This means thinking about the past in a way. Because Meditative means is similar to contemplative. Based upon the way the wording is, it seems that the author is stating the words in a puzzling way and to make the reader think. The way both are phrased they could mean the same thing based from the title, but yet by changing the last two words it makes this poem seem more depressing and less hopeful than the other.
