Select Enable POP for all mail and enable IMAP access, as shown in the following image: Configure Windows Live Mail For Gmail account Check the radio button Enable IMAP and click Save changes at the bottom of the page.
Make sure your mail app isn't set to check for new email too frequently. First login to your Gmail account, go to settings and select the Forwarding and POP/IMAP tab. Try signing in directly on the Gmail app. The email client's sign-in method might be insecure. Click on the Add an e-mail account button located on the left (refer image above), or go to Tools -> Accounts and hit the Add button. 
If the tips above didn't help, visit and follow the steps on the page. If you recently changed your Gmail password, you might need to re-enter your Gmail account information or completely repeat your Gmail account setup on your other email client. Allow less secure apps: If you don't use 2-Step Verification, you might need to allow less secure apps to access your account. You then get a message advising you to follow instructions on setting up POP in Gmail. Next enter in the account information for the email address, password and Display Name you want include and click on Next. Enter the the server address for the outgoing server and port 587. Choose the server type POP and enter the server address and the port 995. Important: If you sign in with OAuth, use your regular Google password. Update your email client to the latest version. If you have these problems or can’t sign in, first check to make sure you’re using the right password.
